June is Duran Duran birthday season with celebrations for both Nick Rhodes and John Taylor.
I can only imagine what the birthday bashes are like from the morning of to well into the evening...or quiet and relaxing.
In this post, I am noting the June birthday boys with German honors the whole of Duran Duran has earned.
Why German?
Duran Duran has received accolades from American award ceremonies and UK award ceremonies. The band has also been recognized by global award ceremonies. Duran Duran received the most profound honor with the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1993. (Of course, the absolute honor in music is induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.)
And then there is the Bravo Otto Award, to which Duran Duran won in 1985.
What is the Bravo Otto Award?
A German award honoring excellence in film, television, and music.
The Bravo Otto Award ceremony was established in 1957. Winners are selected by readers of the German Bravo teen magazine publication.
The award is in gold, silver, and bronze. As of 1996, the Bravo Otto Award offers an honorary platinum to recognize lifetime achievement.
Duran Duran won a silver Bravo Otto Award for Best Group.
Duran Duran travels the world when on tour. Quite naturally, then, the band is honored on a global scale as well.
Where the Brit Award is local to England and BPI (Duran Duran won twice), the Bravo Otto Award is local to Germany.
