Friday Music Library - The Wedding Album

Friday Music Library features musicians with a long collection in my iTunes library.

In this edition of Friday Music Library, I am continuing the Duran Duran theme.  From the albums All You Need Is Now, Astronaut, and Duran Duran's debut, the following selection is an iconic Duran Duran album because of one leaked song that continued to seal the profound status and recognition commanding due honor.

In this post, my next selection is technically titled Duran Duran.  However, the album is better known as The Wedding Album and my favorite song, "Ordinary World."

The Wedding Album and "Ordinary World" are not new to Set List, so both will be refreshers.

The Wedding Album -
7th studio album
Released in February 1993
No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart
Certified Gold in the UK
Certified Platinum in the U.S.

Point of intrigue - The Wedding Album found little interest and a pass by the music industry because Duran Duran was considered an "old act."  Fans spoke otherwise.

In the UK Top 40 -
"Ordinary World" No. 6
"Come Undone" No. 13
"Too Much Information" No. 35

In the U.S. -
"Ordinary World" No. 3
"Come Undone" No. 7

"Ordinary World" Noteworthy Mentions -
No. 1 on Billboard Mainstream Top 40
No. 1 on Canadian RPM Top Singles
No. 1 on Italian Singles Chart
No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100
No. 2 in Iceland and Sweden
Ivor Novello Award (1994)
Certified Gold in Italy and the U.S.
Certified Silver in the UK

Former DD guitarist, Warren Cuccurullo, taught Andy Taylor how to play "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone" prior to the original lineup reunion.
