Carl Perkins was a major influence on such musicians as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, and Eric Clapton. 

Point of intrigue - Paul McCartney was once quoted "if there were no Carl Perkins, there would be no Beatles."

Point of intrigue - Carl Perkins' eldest son, Stan, is an inductee in the Rockability Hall of Fame.

Side note - Carl Perkins was the son of poor sharecroppers...

...yet from humble beginnings, he was later inducted into the Rockability Hall of Fame, Memphis Music Hall of Fame, and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.  Carl also received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award.
