The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Class of 1988 No. 3

 The Drifters

Inducted by Billy Joel

(Wikipedia)

Point of interest - Billy Joel inducted Fats Domino as part of the inaugural class.

The number of members revolving in and out of The Drifters is counted by the dozen and is overwhelming to keep track of.  Induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame requires deep focus as the band was broken down individually - "first Drifters," "second Drifters," and "post-Atlantic Drifters."

Overall,
"The Original Drifters" were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998.  The Ben E. King and the Drifters" were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2000.

Let's try this again - Honors and awards

13 Top 30 Billboard Hot 100
6 No. 1 R&B singles

Point of intrigue - The Drifters are an American group yet had their greatest success on the UK  Singles Chart.

There is more to be said about the history of The Drifters, so as always follow the Wikipedia look above.
