My Generation

As iconic as The Who have come to be, they had to start somewhere.

My Generation is The Who's debut album, released in December 1965 (UK) and in April 1966 (U.S.).  Point of interest - In the U.S., the album title was renamed to The Who Sings My GenerationMy Generation is certified Gold in the UK.  (Wikipedia)

The Who Sings My Generation

I am always open to considering a variety of genres by a variety of artists and in a variety of decades - hence the purpose of Set List.  The 1960's, on the other hand, is not a personal favorite...which may seem odd because that decade established legendary musicians inspiring future legendary musicians.

Although "Eminence Front" is the only Who song I really know (of course being from the 1980's), I have taken a liking to the song, "My Generation."  So let's explore "My Generation."

The song was released in October 1965 and reached No. 2 in the UK.  "My Generation" reached No. 74 in the U.S.

(Refer to Wikipedia for further background.)

"My Generation" honors -
No. 11 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time
No. 13 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Rock & Roll
37th Greatest Hard Rock Song (VH1, 2009)
Part of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll"
Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame
Certified Silver in the UK

(Wikipedia)

My interest in "My Generation" as a song that has spanned many generations is where I will leave off.
