The Power Station -

Andy Taylor and John Taylor wanted to break from synth emphasis and lean toward Led Zeppelin style. 

In February 1985, the band performed "Some Like It Hot" and "Get It On" on an episode of Saturday Night Live.  Point of interest - Saxophonist Lenny Pickett contributed the horn section but went on to join the SNL house band and later the musical director.

"Get It On" reached No. 22 in the UK and No. 9 in the U.S.

The Power Station (album) was released in March 1985 and reached No. 12 in the UK and No. 6 in the U.S.

The band's success led to a sharp downfall with Robert Palmer's sudden departure to go solo.  John Taylor eventually returned to Duran Duran and Andy Taylor eventually went solo.
