LaVern Baker was an American R&B singer.

As a solo artist, "Tweedle Dee" was LaVern's first hit single (1955) - No. 4 on R&B Chart.  

Other hit singles included "Bop-Ting-a-Ling" (No. 3 R&B), "Play It Fair" (No. 2 RB), "Still" (No. 4 R&B).

"Jim Dandy" found the most success (1956) - No. 1 R&B, One million copies sold, Certified Gold.

Point of intrigue - In 1966, LaVern and fellow singer Jackie Wilson sang "Think Twice" as a duet.  At the time, the lyrics were inappropriate to what was acceptable to play on radio stations.  The intriguing part - To date, the song is not played.
