The Ultimate Spooktacular Band
In this final edition of Spooktacular Band for the month of October 2022, my concluding band is The Rolling Stones - a spook for the band's impressive longevity.
So let's explore their highlights -
To quote Wikipedia,
"Active for six decades (1962 - present), they are one of the most popular and enduring bands of the rock era."
From early years performing in small clubs to defining grand arena rock, the show truly does go on.
The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are by far the most recognized British invasion early into the concept. Duran Duran came around some time later...
...Speaking of Duran Duran - If you thought their performances were electric with lighting, screens, and sound, The Rolling Stones were at the forefront of striking performances and continue to be.
Legacy -
30 studio albums, 23 live albums, 12 compilation albums - all including more than 340 songs
4th best-selling group of all time ... Over 240 million albums sold worldwide
#1 single - "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (considered the classic example of rock and roll)
Only band to top the UK Albums Chart in 6 different decades
No. 4 on Rolling Stone's Greatest Artists of All Time (2010)
First concert in July 1962 ... Over 2,000 concerts worldwide since
Bridges to Babylon, Voodoo Lounge, A Bigger Bang - highest grossing tours of all time
Mick Jagger considered to be "the Rolling Stone who changed music" (The Telegraph)
3 Grammy Awards & 12 nominations
Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (1986)
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989
A comprehensive list of awards and nominations received by The Rolling Atones can be found on Wikipedia.
The Rolling Stones' history and legacy will last forever and will continue to inspire artists generations after them.

Set List Brief
Dear Readers & Passersby,
Due to an overhaul in tech coverage for my home, this post is my first chance to let you know that I had to take the day off.
On a final note for the day, I no longer plan to post Park Lane jewelry due to personal reasons and so therefore all jewelry posts previously published on Set List will be a pass.
Back to usual tomorrow!

Sunday Bonus - Best-Selling Singles In the UK
In this Sunday Bonus special, I am noting the top best-selling singles in the UK. There are two lists to contend with based on paid-for purchases and combines sales, so I will make this post very brief.
Elton John ranks first on both lists with "Something About the Way You Look Tonight"/"Candle in the Wind 1997" and both lists find the singles at well over 4 milli0n in sales.
Interestingly, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"/"These Are the Days of Our Lives" ranked third on paid-for with over 2.5 million and "Bohemian Rhapsody" ranked fourth on combined with over 2.7 million.
And the article goes from there. Follow the Wikipedia link below.
Sunday Special - Multi-Platinum Albums Sold In the UK
In this edition of Sunday Special, I am highlighting UK musicians within the scope of the highest level of album certification. This is defined by the BPI - British Phonographic Industry.
BPI designates the highest level of certification to Platinum or 300,000 in albums and 500,000 in singles and 50,000 in music DVD. The level just below Platinum is Gold and the lowest level possible to reach is Silver. In this post, I am focusing on Platinum.
The best-selling album in the UK is Greatest Hits by Queen with more than 7 million copies sold in the UK alone and 124,000 included as downloads. In other words, the album has achieved 23x Platinum.
Third in the list, and second in British artists, of best-selling albums in the UK is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles with 18x Platinum.
Fourth finds Adele with her album, 21, achieving 17x Platinum. Following her is Oasis with (What's the Story) Morning Glory? achieving 16x Platinum.
Seventh on the list is Pink Floyd with The Dark Side of the Moon achieving 15x Platinum, followed by Dire Straits with Brothers in Arms achieving 14x Platinum.
Queen's Greatest Hits II ranks tenth and achieved 13x Platinum. To round out the teens is Amy Winehouse with Back to Black achieving 13x Platinum.
On the rank of 1st to 60th by Platinum status (and therefore by best-selling albums in the UK), the last British act is Take That with their album, Never Forget - The Ultimate Collection, achieving 8x Platinum. Take That, as a British band, has shown up three times, as have Coldplay.
Side note - Michael Jackson is the only American artist to show up more than once (twice). Simon & Garfunkel as an American duo and Paul Simon as a solo musician are on the list as well.
The range on the list is extensive by rank, by Platinum status, and by country. The focal point though is based on best-selling in the UK. There will be many British musicians and bands on the list.
