Day 65 - Set List Saturday Favorite

On this Day 65 in Set List First 100, I am choosing Phil Collins live with the "In the Air Tonight" performance as my Set List Saturday Favorite.

Interesting facts about Phil Collins - He is left handed.  His instrumental brands of choice are the Gretsch drums, Noble & Cooley solid snare drums, Remo heads, Sabian cymbals, and signature Promark sticks.

Day 62 - Versus Tuesday

As you know, Versus Tuesday highlights an Astronaut2005 Drummer cover of a well-known song and original musician.

In this edition of Versus Tuesday, I am comparing the take on "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees and "Stayin's Inside" by Brent McCollough.  The vocals and beat are remarkably similar.  The themes are of course different but the tone uniquely brings the two together.

With that said,

Whether a pop culture hit so many decades ago or a pop culture cover from just one year ago, which way are you stayin'?

In the national and global want of normalcy, I will say -

As always,

Play it!

Rush - Tom Sawyer (Official Music Video)

Day 59 - Set List Saturday Favorite

Due disclaimer - This post contains affiliate links and I may earn a small commission on any purchase made.

On this Day 59 in Set List First 100, I am choosing an instrumental honor not listed in previous zZounds posts.

(Day 38) - zZounds Rush Legend

In a court of law, there is such an objection as "asked and answered."  On Set List, the same is true with Rush - from the beginning of Set List in 2010 to the very present.  If you cannot get enough of Rush, follow the band's background on Wikipedia.

In this post, Geddy Lee (bassist and vocals) is considered the legend on zZounds.

Side note - Neil Peart was one of the most profound drummers in his time.  He will forever be missed.

A defining instrumental linked to Geddy's name and hence my Saturday favorite - Fender Electric Bass.

The defining instrumental -

Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Electric Bass, with Maple Fingerboard

Day 57 - Zildjian Cymbals

Due disclaimer - This post contains affiliate links and I may earn a small commission on any purchase made.

Side note - The Stylist Collection will count as Day 56.

If ever you notice what brands Duran Duran use for concerts, Roger Taylor will be the most noted.  His choice of drum kits is Tama.  And, if you look closely, his choice of cymbals is Zildjian.

In this post, then, I thought I would offer a sample selection of Zildjian cymbals that, if you so choose, would inspire a purchase to go along with your kit!

Brief history lesson -
Zildjian is the largest cymbal and drumstick maker worldwide and is one of the oldest manufacturers of musical instruments worldwide.  The company was founded in 1623 in Constantinople (now Istanbul, Turkey).  After so many centuries passed down through time, the Zildjian company is now based in Massachusetts.  (Read more on Wikipedia.)

The featured types of use on zZounds is extensive and somewhat out of my league to write about.  So...

...If you have knowledge of the Zildjian brand, fill me in with comments at the end of this post.

Day 55 - Versus Tuesday

Versus Tuesday is generally reserved for Astronaut2005 Drummer v. Original Musician.  While the theme is intriguing, I thought I would opt for a different version of Versus Tuesday - Day 55.

Consider the ultimate in drums - Will Ferrell and Chad Smith Drum-Off.

My Set List signature - Play it!

The theme of Mondays in 2021 is discovering the most expensive electric guitar brand.  In the first edition, Gibson defined upscale cost.  In the second edition, Ibanez proved intriguing.

In this third edition of the series, I am considering PRS Guitars: Paul Reed Smith.  If you are intrigued or seriously interested, consider the links below.
