Remember When Friday

In this edition of Remember When Friday, I am sorry to say that I cannot find a past post to reflect on.  I suppose the week has caught up to me.

And so on this last day of the work week, explore the archives to find a post you can reflect on.

Happy Friday to all.

Have a great weekend!

Thursday Fashion

In this edition of Thursday Fashion, I thought I would share my new blog venture -

Avon Boss

Avon Boss features select products from my Avon eStore.  The majority of the posts feature a Daily Top 5.  I also feature a weekly Daily Special that highlights one type of product specifically and Get the Look, where I create a personally styled outfit with all Avon products.

And so my blog will say the rest of it.  Follow the link above.

Wednesday Archives

Marcus Fureder is best known as Parov Stelar - an Austrian born musician inspired by jazz, house, electro and pop music in his compositions.  His full biography can be found on Wikipedia.

I was not able to find details about "The Sun" other than lyrics.

And so this post brings me back to Wednesday Archives.

Explore posts from this year or years past.

Happy Wednesday

Sunrise

In this edition of Two for Two Tuesday, I thought I would offer a pick me up note.

Mother Nature's color palette paints simply beautiful hues in a sunrise and in a sunset.

A beautiful sunrise any day of the week is one to happily wake up to.  The day is fresh, brand new, anything possible.

So I find intrigue in reaching up for the sunrise as performed by Duran Duran and following the sun as performed by Parov Stelar.

In the dead of summer, sunlight is a relief after a rain shower or thunder storm.  In the dead of winter, sunlight is a relief from the consistent snow-filled clouds.

So reach up or follow.

The sunrise.

Wake Up Monday

On this Monday morning, I find myself at a slight loss for words.  Need to wake up.  Get the day going.

Let's start the work week with U2's "Where The Streets Have No Name."  The version I will show below is the ultimate concert with the stage being the roof of a building, the audience being held back with metal barriers, police patrol, and the occasional car passing by.

An experience of a lifetime.

Sunday Favorite

In this edition of Sunday Favorite, I am featuring a new commercial jingle favorite -

"The Sun" by Parov Stelar for Transitions glasses.

Briefly -

My take away from "The Sun" is its personal yet modern tone and lyrics.  The commercial featuring "The Sun" has a similar feel.

Enjoy the official video for "The Sun" by Parov Stelar.

Set List Memories - Conclusion

Set List launched in 2010 and leaves behind forever special memories.  Set List continues in the present year of 2018 with growing memories.

And so in this conclusion of Set List Memories, all that is left to say is -

Always remember to play it!

Set List Memories - Part 3

Every year on Set List has a most popular post.  In 2010, every month in the year had a most popular post.  However, if I could zero in on the year overall, I would say the most popular post would be -

Set List - Rush

I have since referenced this post so many times and defines the core of Set List then, now, and in the future.

I will say, though, that the second most popular post in 2010 was the video for "What Goes Around Comes Around" by Justin Timberlake...a popular post not too far from Set List - Rush.

While I could go on for some time listing other well-received posts from 2010, the two above - especially the linked post - best reflect Set List.

Set List Memories - Part 2

My very first post.

Set List - Music - May 1, 2010

The post link above best highlights my love for music and for writing about the many genres and aspects of music.

As for the Associated Content link...the company has since retired, but I will always have a varied Top 10 list of favorite Duran Duran songs.  In this moment, No. 1 will always be "Ordinary World" (recorded).  "All You Need Is Now" might find a place in the list.  "Pressure Off" is a maybe consideration.  "The Valley" is on my iPod, so being on an album I got to see live is a must on the Top 10 list.  "Tel Aviv" is a must for pure instrumental.  As is evidenced, "Planet Earth" live is a must and certainly No. 2 on the list.  Gosh, I could go on for some time!

My take away from Set List - Music is my love for music and for writing about music (and writing in general).

My 2010 year-end post.

My 2010 debut year ended during the Christmas season with holiday sentiments from Roger Taylor, Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes.

And so to begin the debut year with Duran Duran and end the debut year with Duran Duran is rather special and unique.

Set List Memories - Part 1

Let's keep the 500th excitement and momentum going!

In this edition of Remember When Friday, I am recalling the first year - 2010.

I will always remember 2010 for one primary reason -

When Set List debuted, so too did Duran Duran's All You Need Is Now album.  Duran Duran officials encouraged bloggers and website owners to proudly display All You Need Is Now banners as means of promotion beyond the band's official web page and anticipating tour.  I remember proudly placing a huge banner at the top of the screen.

The perfect debut.

Set List Groove

In the year 2010, I launched Set List out of excitement, passion, and curiosity.

I was excited to write about my forever love of anything music.  Music, then, is a strong passion.  On the other hand, I was curious to see where the blog would take me - audience engagement, energy level, post frequency, and of course what I would write about.

With over 100 posts published in 2010, Set List proved successful.  I was quite hopeful for Set List to be my career - blog for a living with advertisement income.

As of 2011, I took a downfall on Set List with increasingly less posts published.

In this year 2018, I am so happy to have returned to Set List.  As of March, I have published well over 200 posts.  I, then, am really back.

My greatest thrill on Set List is honoring its anniversary every year.

My greatest thrill now is 500 posts (well, this post is 501).

So let's keep Set List grooving.

Enjoy "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang.

As always,
Play it!

A Brand New Beautiful Day

With the gloom of Monday behind us, I thought I would once more energize the week with Tuesday being a fresh brand new day and a beautiful day at that.

Sting defined "Brand New Day" for, on Set List, the doldrums of Monday.

U2 defines "Beautiful Day" for, on Set List, the whole of the work week.

On this Tuesday, "Brand New Day" and "Beautiful Day" are two for two...inspirational, powerful, and profound.

Need a fresh boost of energy to keep going?

Wake Up Monday

A gloomy Monday has arrived - both literally and figuratively.

This week is a new week, though, so let Monday as a brand new day inspire success.

"Brand New Day" by Sting might help better.

Have a great Monday!

In Memory

In this Sunday Favorite edition, I am respecting the memory of a sad loss in music - Aretha Franklin.

And so, in brief short, Aretha Franklin - In Honor is today's Sunday edition.

Aretha Franklin - In Honor

March 25, 1942 - August 16, 2018

Queen of Soul

Rest in Peace

Thursday Fashion

In this edition of Thursday Fashion (where Anything Goes Thursday would be), I thought I would share my newest fashion venture - Fashmates.

Fashmates is an online social styling platform.

I say social because Fashmates is a community of members who can interact with each other via likes, comments, and personal messages.

I say styling because members create fashion sets that best reflect their interests and personal style.

Fashmates has three special perks -

- A chance to build a fashion portfolio

- Style Icon is a coveted title

- Members can receive commission on any item purchased within a set

For these reasons, I am viewing Fashmates as a business and me as an entrepreneur.

I am so excited about Fashmates and I hope to tap into your possible intrigue.

Wednesday Archives

Wednesday.

Middle of the week.

Far from Monday.  Nowhere near Friday.

Not the best of days during the work week.

And so I do not have much to say today.

As the new Wednesday weekly series goes, explore the archives.

Rock Music Icons

Aerosmith is to the United States as the Rolling Stones are to England.

In this edition of Two for Two Tuesday, I am featuring "Dream On" and "Gimme Shelter."

"Dream On" is iconic to Aerosmith and "Gimme Shelter" is iconic to the Rolling Stones.

According to Rolling Stone, "Gimme Shelter" is ranked No. 1 on the most popular song list for the Rolling Stones (out of 100).

According to the Rolling Stone Readers' Poll, "Dream On" is ranked No. 1 as the best Aerosmith song of all time (out of 10).

"Dream On" and "Gimme Shelter" profoundly defined their decades and beyond.

And so I choose to feature two staples in rock music history.

Wake Up Monday

Honest moment -

I am exhausted on this Monday morning and really did not know what to post for Wake Up Monday...

...until "Back In the Saddle" pierced in my mind.  I am certain this song has been shared somewhere in the depths of Set List.  However, Steven Tyler's screaming vocals would definitely wake up anyone.

And so I am sharing with you "Back In the Saddle."

Happy Monday!

Sunday Favorite

In this edition of Sunday Favorite, I am featuring a new lip sync challenge...I find they are as enjoyable as my always love for commercial jingles!

This lip sync challenge features the Mansfield, Texas SWAT team.

"SWAT" stands for Special Weapons and Tactics.  Now police officers lip syncing to pop culture songs is humorous enough.  However, one might think a SWAT team, as immensely vital as they are to a police department, could not possibly be taken lightly.

The Mansfield SWAT team proved otherwise.

Enjoy the video below.

Remember When Friday

Friday is here (yea!).  Friday is the one day many rush through the work week toward to finally relax the weekend away.

In this edition of Remember When Friday, I am looking back to my roots on Set List with my first post -

Set List - Rush

Set List - Rush is the most viewed and well-known post in the history of Set List.  Therefore, it needs no refresher.

I hope you enjoy Set List - Rush as much as I did writing it.

A memory I will never forget and will always hold on to.

And so on this note, happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Thursday Fashion

Thursday, as anything goes, is all about fashion.

In this edition of Thursday Fashion, I am promoting my blog, Couture Tales.  Couture Tales features short story posts with a fashion theme.  Although I am no longer posting, I am still connected to two affiliate marketing merchants - Stella & Dot and Kiyonna.

Stella & Dot is fashion direct sales.  There is a starter kit fee at various price points.  High-end jewelry is the namesake.  Accessories, clothing, and so much follow suit.  In all respect, Stella & Dot offers the same experience as Chloe + Isabel.  Stylists have customized online boutiques unique to their personal style.  Trunk shows and online sales are the way to go, as opposed to Chloe + Isabel's insistent pop-up method.  However, Stella & Dot offers a branded clothing line.  Chloe + Isabel draws the line at accessories and men's products to stand out.  Chloe + Isabel is best known for high-end jewelry.

Stella & Dot is a global company with headquarters in New York and California.  Stella & Dot has overseas headquarters in London as well as offices in Paris and Berlin.  Every product Stella & Dot delivers is designed and handmade in the United States.

Kiyonna is an online clothing boutique dedicated to plus size women up to size 5X.  I am most familiar with their tops and dresses.  I chose to work with Kiyonna (upon their approval) because I am a plus size.  I am okay being a plus size...where many would shame me.  Kiyonna clothing is elegant and one of a kind, making any plus size woman forget their reason for plus.  Lace fabric is iconic for the brand.

Stella & Dot and Kiyonna, as fashion brands, are worth considering and perhaps investing in a purchase.  I will say that if you explore Couture Tales and are intrigued by either or both to then make a purchase, I will make a slight commission.  This disclosure is required under affiliate marketing rules.

Fashion direct sales is all I know...and so in this new edition of Thursday Fashion, Stella & Dot and Kiyonna are all I know for fashion affiliate marketing.

Wednesday Once Over

Wednesday Once Over was once reserved for providing more detail to a  past post.  However, over time I feel caught up with past posts.

So.  I am now declaring Wednesday Once Over to be Wednesday Archives.  Explore the archives.  Find a long ago favorite.

To readers and passersby, I have a thought.  Leave a comment to let me know if you find a post you want more detail on.

At any rate, happy Wednesday!

Chris Botti Live

Wake Up  Monday is generally reserved for songs that, well, really wake you up - loud, blasting drums, electricity in the electric guitar, and always live in concert.

In this edition of Wake Up Monday, I will be reserved - calm, relaxed.

My Set List go to for pop/rock is always Duran Duran.  My Set List go to for jazz is always Chris Botti.

And so in this edition of Wake Up Monday, I choose to turn to Chris Botti live in Boston.

Enjoy Chris Botti's touching rendition of Miles Davis's classic "Flamenco Sketches."

Sunday Favorite

In this edition of Sunday Favorite, I am not featuring a viewer favorite from this week.  I, actually, am featuring a new favorite commercial jingle!

"Cha Cha Cha" is the backdrop to the Corona Light commercial.  The musician is Jimmy Luxury.

Okay, so I am not entirely intrigued by the music video and I generally would prefer not to share a video commercial promoting alcohol, but between the two, I would rather share the commercial.

In one word to describe "Cha Cha Cha" - goofy.

Have a great Sunday.

Remember When Friday

This entry will mark 201 posts as of March 2018.  This year has surpassed my initial record of 106 posts in Set List's launch year - 2010.

And so on this Remember When Friday, I thought I would share the post that brought me back to Set List...a video post.

As it would naturally be - Duran Duran.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Thursday Fashion

I am not sure how or when Anything Goes Thursday got caught up in the topic of fashion, so I suppose Anything Goes Thursday will officially be all about fashion.

Fashion direct sales.  Once the topic of a previous post.  My experience with direct sales includes Chloe + Isabel and Avon.

The thought of being an entrepreneur, owning a boutique business, running a small business on one's own terms is exciting and intriguing.  Swept off one's feet really.  However, there are pros and cons to weigh before delving into such excitement and intrigue.

Pros of direct sales -

- You are your own boss.
- You set your own schedule.
- You create your own marketing strategies.
- You can run your business solely online or opt for in-person social selling.
- Commission rates are lucrative.
- Income is unlimited.
- Growth potential.

Cons of direct sales -

If you are your own boss, you are accountable for every aspect of your business.  In this respect, you are accountable for success or failure.

Marketing strategies must be strong and consistent for both an online presence and live social selling.  In this respect, if you do not push to be heard and drive in business, you will lack.

I would suggest creating a list of definite customers who can then branch out to people they know who would be interested before signing on with a desired direct sales company.  Begin with family and go from there.  This note can go either way - your list may be long or minimal.

Commission rates are set within a range.  Higher percentages are generally reserved for the most successful sellers with a phenomenal income.  These sellers, whether online or in person, are offered growth potential.  For example, Chloe + Isabel offers Merchandise Manager above Merchandiser.  I am still new to Avon, so reaching a title above what I am now will be awhile.  Commission rates truly are lucrative, but be mindful of how much time and effort goes behind to aim for the top.

Fashion direct sales is enjoyable.  However, consider what you sell and how in demand the products are at the present time.  Market, market, market.

The notion of entrepreneurship, working from home or anywhere, and being your own boss is enticing and a want many people desire.  My note to those is to consider before applying.

Wednesday Once Over

In this edition of Wednesday Once Over, I am sharing a rather unusual post.  I am up to speed with the archives, so I thought I would insert a YouTube video of yet again another lip sync challenge.

The video below features a brief mix of songs as performed by the Skokie Police Department.

Where Wednesday Once Over tends to be serious, one cannot help being amused by the Skokie Police Department's goofy take on pop culture music.

Enjoy!
