Reminisce

May is a lucky month for Set List - the month of launch in 2010 and the most active when I return from an extended break.

I am always filled with excitement and post ideas in May.  Why May is the question, though.

I could reminisce about my passion for music and intrigue in the concept of blogging from so many years ago.  I could reminisce about how Set List came to be and my influences.  I could reminisce about the evolution of Set List from 2010 to present.  I could.

Of course if I could, I would be repeating myself from some point in the past I imagine.

In this post, I will reminisce about my custom music store through Amazon.  However, instead of an entire rewrite, I will reminisce by leaving a link to the post that in detail discussed my custom music store through Amazon.

Lonely In Your Nightmare

"Lonely In Your Nightmare" is a favorite song - by Duran Duran and in general - for highly personal reasons.

I am Bipolar.  I have a psychiatric seizure disorder.  I have Panic Disorder.  I have agoraphobic tendencies.  I currently take seven medications for my "invisible disabilities." 

My mental reality will always be a nightmare. 

I will never know my inheritance because no one in my family exhibits signs of mental illness.  My family, then, cannot relate.

My Panic Disorder and agoraphobic tendencies (fear of being outside) have left me with a limited social network - those I meet online through common interests.  I will never meet these few in person, so the extent of sympathy is likewise limited.

My mental reality will always leave me lonely.

So why is "Lonely In Your Nightmare" a favorite song?  The lyrics give me comfort.  If I feel alone in mind, I am never alone in music.

Save a Prayer

"Save a Prayer" was released on August 9, 1982 as Duran Duran's sixth single.  "Save a Prayer" is the third single on Duran Duran's album, Rio.

"Save a Prayer" reached #2 status on the UK Singles Chart and #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.

"Save a Prayer" is well at the top of my most favorite songs - by Duran Duran and in general - for personal reasons.  When I am in emotional distress for whatever reason, I turn to this song for the title alone.  I need to know that the outcome of my concern will be okay.  "Save a Prayer" in essence helps me get through difficult times.

And so I choose to promote the Rio album as the original source for "Save a
Prayer."

"Say" is a profound inspiration to me.  I have life struggles that I generally write about in a personal journal.  However, some issues are better expressed out loud and the lyrics to "Say" offer a sense of verbal journaling.
