Reader Top Pick - New Moon on Monday

Dear readers and passersby,

In this edition of Reader Top Pick (formerly Friday Fave), your chosen post for this week is New Moon on Monday.

In short, "New Moon on Monday" highlighted a drum cover as performed by musician Astronaut2005 Drummer and Duran Duran's original version in their official music video.  

The Monday theme is drum cover versus original performance.  My question to you is - how will Astronaut2005 Drummer compare to the original performance?

Fashion Sense Thursday

On my blog, Fashion FM, I blend music and fashion as an ultimate combination.  As an example, my launch post on Fashion FM was Duran Duran's "Girl Panic!".  From there, I create Fashmates look books that best compliment featured songs.  In other words, I express my take on what a given song would look like in fashion.

In this launch edition of Fashion Sense Thursday, I am blending prestigious and fashion as the upmost combination inspiring wish lists by fans worldwide.

An excellent example of prestigious and fashion - Giorgio Armani is a top designer preference for Nick Rhodes.

In a 2015 interview with Vogue, Nick Rhodes detailed the importance of style for Duran Duran.  Early on, the band created their own look and shopped on their own.  When Rio came along, the band worked with British designer, Antony Price.  Price also suited Nick for the "Planet Earth" video.  Japanese and French designers were also considered.  On this global scale then, Italian designers were also considered - such as Giorgio Armani.

Armani suited Duran Duran's full reunion tour in 2003.  The reunion tour of course meant a great deal to the band and fans alike.  I can see why Armani is special to Nick.

While Duran Duran worked with many designers over the years, I personally associate Giorgio Armani with DD the most.  I suppose this is because I did not officially discover the band until Astronaut was released and the reunion tour kicked off.

As for other aspects to Duran Duran's brand identity - hair and makeup...A story for another day.

Duet Tuesday

Set List is defined by music of many genres.  This definition offers a variety of themes for post topics.  Mondays feature drum covers versus the original performance.  Fridays highlight weekly favorites as chosen by you.  Weekends are dedicated to zZounds.  

And then there is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  For now, let's stick with Tuesdays.

The Tuesday theme is iconic duets.  For example...

In this launch edition of Duet Tuesday, Sonny and Cher sing "I Got You Babe."  This duo song was written by Sonny Bono for the debut album, Look at Us.  In August 1965, "I Got You Babe" reached No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 and sold over 1 million copies, certifying the song Gold.  "I Got You Babe" was also No. 1 in the UK and Canada.  (Wikipedia)

Mondays are always a struggle to get the day and week going.  So I have a new theme for Monday - Astronaut2005 Drummer cover v. Original musician.

In this launch edition of Astronaut2005 Drummer v. Original, I am featuring "New Moon on Monday" as the cover and as performed originally by Duran Duran.
