The Yardbirds are an English rock band as of 1963.  The core of the band included Keith Relf (harmonica, vocals), Jim McCarty (drums), Chris Dreja (guitar, bass), and Paul Samwell-Smith (bass, producer).  The core dissolved and led to a revolving door of members,

For a brief period of time, The Yardbirds featured Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck.  The band is credited for the successful careers each guitarist went on to have.  (All three ranked in the top five of Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists.)

The Yardbirds ranked No. 89 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The band played blues and pop styles but paved the way for psychedelic rock and hard rock...even punk rock, progressive rock, and heavy metal influences.

The background of The Yardbirds is broken down by major guitarists - the band with Eric Clapton, the band with Jeff Beck, and the band with Jimmy Page.  A later category includes the formation of Led Zeppelin by Jimmy Page.  Each broken down section tells its own story.

Outside of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, there is no mention of honors or other accolades.

Genres considered - Soul, R&B, Southern Soul, Rock and Roll

Sam Moore was known for a higher tenor pitch that was complimented by Dave Prater's deep baritone pitch.  This was best for the duo...

...On a sad note, the two did not compliment each other on an individual base with refusal to speak backstage and all communication was through an intermediary.  Neither looked at the other when performing on stage.  At an eventual point, Sam Moore left the duo to pursue a solo career.

Sam & Dave were further known for impressive live performances.

The "Dynamic Duo" held great influence on such musicians as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Steve Winwood, and many more.

In the 1980s, the Blues Brothers brought back soul, R&B, and blues.  They are best recognized by "Soul Man" and their live acts honoring Sam & Dave.

My personal thought regarding Sam & Dave - Their voices complimented each other as musicians.  I can imagine the live acts based on words alone.  Yet, there were so many flaws in the duo's relationship that were not entirely consistent when described by both at separate times.  Music is something to bring joy, fun, and happiness.  Fans are fans for a reason.  Fans grow with favorite musicians as they grow.  They expect only the best when a band, duo, or solo walks on stage and performs.  As Roger Taylor (Duran Duran) once said of the band that in their last performance as the original lineup, they were all in different head spaces.  Every member contributed their part but the positive electricity just wasn't there.  Fans may have felt hope, but DD did not.  I suppose, then, the same could be said of Sam & Dave.

On Set List, there is little left to be said about so many iconic musicians and their signature songs.  Jimi Hendrix is one of them.  A natural gift left far too soon.  My final thought about Jimi -

Side Note - Little Richard was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and also inducted Otis Redding in the Class of 1988.

The Isley Brothers consist of O'Kelly Isley Jr., Rudolph Isley, and Ronald Isley.  (The fourth sibling, Vernon, joined but passed away shortly thereafter.)

In the whole of the 1970s, the Isley Brothers recorded and released top albums, including the No. 1 The Heat Is On.

In the 1980s, the group (which would also include Ernie Isley, Marvin Isley, and Rudolph's brother-in-law, Chris Jasper) began to dismantle.  In 1983, Ernie, Marven, and Chris briefly worked as a trio, but success was not meant to be.  In 1986, O'Kelly passed away. Rudolph and Ronald released two albums before Rudolph left to join a Christian ministry in 1989.

Ronald brought back many of the former members - Ernie and Marvin.  Although Marvin later left due to health issues, Ronald and Ernie achieved duo success with such albums as Mission to Please (1996), Eternal (2001), and Body Kiss (2003).

Ronald and Ernie continue to perform as a duo to date.

Booker I . & the M.G.'s

Booker T. & the M.G.'s were an American instrumental R&B/funk band.

Original members -

Booker T. Jones (organ, piano)

Steve Cropper (guitar)

Lewie Steinberg (bass)

Al Jackson Jr. (drums)'

The members recorded with such musicians as Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding.  Bill Withers, and many more.

In 1965, guitarist Lewie Steinberg left the group and brought in Donald "Duck" Dunn who retained his position until his death in 2912.  In 1975, Al Jackson Jr. was murdered.  At this point, the band opted not to dissolve and Jones, Cropper, and Dunn continued to perform.
