My take away -

Alesis offers a more complex range of products than the simple and basic CompactKit 4 Portable Tabletop Drum Kit meant for beginners.  While this kit is generously priced for beginners, the more elite and technical selections average over $1,000.  Of course, if you are a professional or semi-professional, this cost is worth the investment.
