Girls on Film Bonus - Bass Tutorial
A few years ago, John Taylor posted a series of YouTube bass tutorials in line with Duran Duran classics. Each tutorial was meant to explain his instrumental take on a given song and how he broke down each song to better explain the recording process.
With the most recent Answer to the Song being "Girls on Film," I thought this bonus Set List post would best be explained by John Taylor.

This edition of Guess & Answer came across as either you know the song too well (the guess was randomly placed between two lyrics) or you really were not sure at all. Further, if you knew the answer and the fact that the answer was from a live rendition without the need to research, you are an exceptional "duranie."
As with previous Guess & Answer editions, I am shariung the song as found on YouTube but on one condition - do not confuse this share with the upcoming Duran Duran birthday season as of April 26th.

Set List Journal Entry No. 9 : Walking On The Moon - The Police v. Duran Duran
In July 1969, the Apollo 11 mission touched down on the moon. In the infancy of NASA, there seemed to be no way this would happen. John Glenn's three orbits around Earth was impressive. The first American spacewalk by Ed White left NASA control holding their breath and in intense anxiety. White was attached to the rocket with a tether. While there was a secure connection, the tether had a mind of its own and wrapped itself around a fighting Ed White. From a medical standpoint, he was not well with rising blood pressure, increased heart rate, and acute panic. On the ground, the NASA physician was monitoring White's health levels. White fought his way out of the tangled tether and back into the rocket. Based on the physically stressed experience, he did not want to do that (spacewalk) again...
"I'm coming back in...and it's the saddest moment of my life."
In this Journal Entry No. 9, I am comparing musical honors to Apollo 11 by The Police and Duran Duran. For Ed White's part in the Gemini 4 mission, a song should have been written and recorded in his honor. Alas, touching down on the moon was every American astronaut's dream. And when that did happen...
versus
Somewhere in the Set List archives, I have compared the two bands over the same song. "Walking On The Moon" vocals, notes, and instrumentals came naturally to The Police. What they had to offer to the song is all that was needed to make it a success. "Walking On The Moon" vocals, notes, and instrumentals by Duran Duran tried hard to match The Police but the stamp they put on the song was not so much. The keyboards did not exist in the original and therefore did not make sense in the cover. I personally find Sting's natural pitch and Simon's natural pitch to not meet, which felt awkward to listen to. The pace sounded a bit slower than The Police, although the original did pay great attention to the guitars.
With my opinion aside, The Police and Duran Duran are unique in their own sound and performance. I will of course always be a fan of both.

Set List Journal - Entry No. 8
There are three songs by Duran Duran that bring me down when I am already in a state 0f depression - "Ordinary World," "Lonely In Your Nightmare," and "Falling Down." The irony, though, is that all three songs offer the notion that when devastated by a life circumstance...never alone. I feel the hope within each song that things will get better because they just have to. Duran Duran keeps that mindset noted.
In Set List Journal - Entry No. 7, I shared my interest in "Lonely In Your Nightmare." "Let me in" is a partial lyric from the song to which I never feel alone.
In this journal entry, I am sharing my interest in "Falling Down."
"Falling Down" inspiration -
In 2007, Britney Spears faced severe press scrutiny and questionable mental health issues. Justin Timberlake, her ex-boyfriend, took to her concerns when writing "Falling Down."
The music video for "Falling Down" focused on models facing rehab and the Duran Duran members acting as doctors and therapists.
As a side note, the decision to shoot the video in the Los Angeles based Linda Vista Hospital was not the best. Linda Vista is notoriously haunted in a sketchy part of L.A. with gang members frequently being patients. The hospital has since been converted into apartments that won't necessarily make the hauntings stop just because.
Inspiration and notes of intrigue aside, "Falling Down" has something to offer because it just does. "Could I find someone out there to help me?" is a lyric that asks for help and support in difficult situations.
As you can see, darker lyrics to Duran Duran songs can in turn give me hope...and that means something.

Bridal Look Book
In this second edition of Bridal Look Book, I am continuing the royal tone with satin, crystals, and diamonds. In one word, I would define this design as opulent - rich with eleganc, romance, and accents. A dream fairytale come to life. A veil is not included as I want the focus to be on the wedding dress itself. A tiara would naturally pair with a veil, so I instead am opting for a luxury bridal hair comb. The white rose bouquet is meant to hold down the aisle.

"Don't Stop Believin'" is of great meaning to me for a variety of reasons, from getting through seven years as an undergraduate to accomplishing tasks that would otherwise cause severe panic and so many other reasons in between.
I think Journey is one of the most meant to be bands in America and on a global scale for their relatable and inspiring songs.
That is impressive.

The answer was "Lights" by Journey. The song was origiunally on the band's fourth album, Infinity.
Although Aerosmith is an American band, they have long been considered the U.S. version of British invasions. On the other hand, Tom Petty and Journey are about as Americana in music as you can get.

Set List Journal - Entry No. 7
Although not the self-titled debut album, Rio is by far Duran Duran's most iconic album with "Rio" defining their stamp on pop culture amd the music industry. As the concluding song to Duran Duran concerts, "Rio" offers a magical experience with shining lights, intense high, calm low, and overall a lasting and memorable sensation...
...And then there is a down point to the album - "Lonely In Y9ur Nightmare."
When I am in a depression, "Lonely In Your Nightmare" is rather soothing because I don't feel alone when I listen to the lyrics. I feel a sense of comfort and company. I tend to listen to this song when I am in a deep depression.
When I need to know that I am not alone, Duran Duran is an escape.
