"Walking on the Moon"
The original version of "Walking on the Moon" was released by The Police as the second single from the 1979 album, Reggatta de Blanc. The music video was filmed at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Duran Duran's version of "Walking on the Moon" was performed live at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon.
Consider Wikipedia for an interesting read about the Apollo 11 mission.
The Police and Duran Duran consider New Wave as a genre unique to their styles. That, however, is where the line is drawn due to the Synth-Pop genre emphasized by Duran Duran.
Therefore, the "Walking on the Moon" performance by Duran Duran in July 2019 was not entirely natural to their natural sound. The tempo was somewhat slower than the original version. The notes were not fully met. The intrigue by the backdrop to Duran Duran's performance truly was as profound as the official music video.
With that said, "Walking on the Moon" is a forever favorite for The Police fans, Duran Duran fans, or both!
