In this edition of Grammy Hall of Fame, The Beatles (White Album) was inducted in 2000.
The history of the album is at length to write here, so read more on Wikipedia.
The Beatles album, also referred to as The White Album, was released as the band's 9th album in November 1968.
Although The Beatles failed to remain as the original lineup, the album found great success -
No. 1 in the UK and U.S.
No. 10 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (2001)
(No. 10 through 2012)
Certified Gold in Argentina (The White Album), Canada (2009 release), France, and Italy
Certified Platinum in Argentina (Album Blanco)
Certified 2x Platinum in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK
Certified 8x Platinum in Canada
Certified 24x Platinum in the U.S.
The original release of The Beatles had four sides which I personally find confusing to write in this post, so once again follow the Wikipedia link above to scroll through the album's song list.
