Brief note - David contracted polio at the age of three and was confined to an iron lung for a year. He was left with impaired respiration and his left arm shorter than his right.
David Sanborn has been linked to radio-friendly smooth jazz. Ironic point - He never considered himself a jazz musician.
As a session musician, David played on albums by such artists as Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Sting, the Eagles, James Brown, George Benson, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and more.
David Sanborn has released over 20 albums over the course of his career.
Point of interest - David was a member of the Saturday Night Live band in 1980. In the late 1980s, David was a frequent guest member of Paul Shaffer's band on Late Night with David Letterman.
