The Beatles defined the novel concept of boy band considering the majority of their fans being women. Duran Duran solidified the concept at a rather high pitch scream. Of course, screams turn to happy shouts as fans evolve with the musicians.
In the United States, NSYNC brought the concept across the pond to a new generation intrigued by their music, well rehearsed stage performances, and overly enthusiastic support.
Every band will have a favorite among fans. In the instance of NSYNC, I was never a screaming fan and never really bought into their music but if I really had to choose, I would opt for Justin Timberlake because he has proven his musical worth beyond teen heartthrob style and as time goes on, his talent matures.
A lasting fan base is crucial to a lasting musical act - band or solo. Justin Timberlake has proven both...which is why he is my Set List Saturday feature in this month of August.
