Third track & single from U2's 7th album, Achtung Baby
Released in February 1992 as a benefit single with proceeds going to AIDS research.
During the recording of the album, friction among the band members nearly broke them up. When "One" came to be, the lyrics and instrumental especially by the Edge inspired U2 to stay together. As a side note, "One" was also inspired by German reunification after the fall of the Berlin wall. The title of the song is further derived from the ONE Campaign - an international, non-partisan, non-profit organization creating economic opportunities and better lives in Africa.
