On September 21, 1925, the world welcomed Henry Zander. The eldest of two by four years, he was a loved and cherished son and brother. As an adult, he honored his country in World War II. Thereafter, his sister once introduced him to who would become the love of his life. They married, had a son, had a granddaughter, and eventually spent their elder years in Arizona.
Oh the life my Uncle Hank led.
Today marks a milestone in my great-uncle's life - he would have been 100 years old today. Sadly, I cannot recall the year of his death. Yet when my grandmother passed in September 2021, she ascended to Heaven exactly one week before his 96th, so what the birthday blast they celebrated.
When the Zander family fully reunited in 2021, I can only imagine the joyous celebration.
So on Set List, as I honor a Zander birthday, what was the number one song in September 1925?
"If You Knew Susie (Like I Know Susie)" by Eddie Cantor
Happy Birthday, Uncle Hank
I only met you once but I will remember you always from stories passed down. You were an amazing son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. You are forever missed.
