Point of intrigue - When Tom Petty embarked on a solo career, some of the band members performed as studio musicians.

Tom Petty released three albums, the most successful being Full Moon Fever (1989).

As a band, the Heartbreakers were initially successful in the UK while lesser recognized in the U.S. until "Breakdown" from their debut self-titled album was re-released in the United States following word of positive response in the UK.

As a band, the Heartbreakers' second album, You're Gonna Get It! (1978), was their first gold certification.
