Who Is David Foster?

As a musician, David Foster is a former keyboardist for the band, Skylark.

David Foster has contributed to albums by George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Kenny Rogers, and others.

David produced debut albums for Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Renee Olstead, and Charice.

In 1985, David composed the score to the film, St. Elmo's Fire.

In 1988, David composed the instrumental "Winter Games" theme to the Winter Olympics.

David Foster and then-wife Linda Thompson collaborated on "I Have Nothing" as performed by Whitney Houston for the 1992 film, The Bodyguard.

In 1996, David collaborated with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds on "The Power of the Dream" for the Summer Olympics.  

In 2001, David and his daughter, Amy Foster-Gillies, composed "I'll Make it Up as I Go" as performed by Diana Krall for the film, The Score.

In 2002, David and Linda Thompson collaborated on "Light the Fire Within" as performed by LeAnn Rhimes for the Winter Olympics.

David Foster has served as guest mentor on American Idol (2006) and judge on Celebrity Duets (2006).

David Foster has been a feature in live performance albums by Andrea Bocelli.  David once noted that Bocelli is his favorite singer.

In 2019, An Intimate Evening with David Foster including his wife, Katharine McPhee and others, was aired on PBS.

David has produced best-selling Christmas albums in 1984, 1998, 2007-2009, and 2011-2012.
