- A History -

The Rock and Roll of Fame was founded in April 1983.  The RRHOF is also known as Rock Hall and is based in Cleveland, Ohio.

Rock Hall is home not just to the hall of fame but also a museum dedicated to rock music and artists, producers, engineers, and others who influenced the development of rock.

1986-92 ... 1994-96 ... 1998-2008 ... 2010-11 ... 2014 ... 2016 ... 2017 ... 2019 ... 2023 

Los Angeles: 1993 ... 2013 ... 2022

As of 2018, the ceremonies alternate between New York City and Cleveland.

Known for speed, power, fast single-footed kick drumming, and distinctive sound

Genres considered - Hard Rock, Blues Rock, Folk Rock, Heavy Metal

Considered one of the greatest and most influential drummers in history

Influenced such drummers as Roger Taylor (Queen), Dave Grohl, Neil Peart, Chad Smith, Phil Collins, and others

The members of Led Zeppelin mutually agreed to break up in honor of John Bonham's sudden death.

Following Led Zeppelin's 1969 concert tours, John Bonham's drum kit expanded to include congas and a gong, to name a few.

Posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Led Zeppelin in 1995

No. 1 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time (2016)

In the month of January 2018, Ed Sheeran's song "Perfect" held No. 1 single status.  On January 25, 2018, Eminem's song "River" featured Ed Sheeran and was likewise at the top of the UK Singles Chart.  In the month of April 2018, "Nice for What" by Drake held a top spot on the UK Singles Chart.  This single was listed on April 19th, closest to Prince Louis's date of birth.

On April 19, 2018, the album Golden by Kylie Minogue held a top spot on the UK Albums Chart.  This album was closest to Prince Louis's date of birth.

The top single of 2018 was "One Kiss" by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa, with sales reaching 1,570,000.

The best selling album of 2018 was The Greatest Showman with sales reaching 1,600,000.  This album was a soundtrack to the film, The Greatest Showman.

UK Music Hall of Fame - A History

- A History -

The UK Music Hall of Fame was established in 2004.  The inaugural class was comprised of five members from the 1950s to the 1990s.  The members included:

Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Madonna, U2

Five additional members were chosen by the public in October 2004:

Cliff Richard and the Shadows, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams

2005 Inductees -

Pink Floyd, Eurythmics, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Joy Division/New Order, The Who, The Kinks, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne

(The 2005 ceremony was televised in the UK and later on VH1 Classic in the U.S.)

2006 Inductees -

James Brown, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, Brian Wilson, Bon Jovi, Prince, Dusty Springfield

(The 2006 ceremony would be James Brown's last televised appearance as he passed one month later.  The recording was in November.  James passed in December.)

There were no announced inductees in 2007.

In 2008, the UK station that aired the annual ceremony ceased filming due to lack of funding and too long of a delay between ceremonies.

After the Beatles broke up, Ringo Starr released "It Don't Come Easy" (top 10 hit in the U.S.), the No. 1 single "Photograph," & the No. 1 single "You're Sixteen"

Ringo's most successful UK single was "Back Off Boogaloo" (No. 2)

Ringo's most acclaimed album was his 1973 Ringo - Top 10 in the UK and the U.S.

As of 1989, Ringo Starr has toured with varying lineups of Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band.
