A New Duran Duran Era

I love Duran Duran.  My ultimate favorite albums are The Wedding Album (point of discovery) and Astronaut (point of permanent passion).  My first concert experience was Duran Duran's Red Carpet Massacre tour.  I will forever cherish those memories.

Yet, as of Andy Taylor's departure and influx of guest musicians, I feel a sense of quantity of entertainment over quality of entertainment.  The stage still shimmers with every performance, but I cannot help but notice conformity.

For example, during the Red Carpet Massacre tour, the band wore the same outfits.  In group photos, there is a clothing theme if not exactly the same - such as leather with Paper Gods.

If I were to narrow down my thoughts to finite detail, the way Simon, Nick, John, and Roger pose seem abstract rather than casual.

I do have heartbreak with the additional performers on stage - outside of the band and guest musicians, I doubt I will ever understand their contribution.

I posted "Pressure Off" because the song is my only favorite from the newest album in the Duran Duran collection.

Duran Duran has long proved to not be a one-off band.  The members are extraordinarily talented and worthy of life long fame.  However, every decade has brought new generations of fans that follow the previous.  I suppose I could just be stuck in the past, but in the new Duran Duran era, I am bowing out.

Just a Thought

Music and fashion blend well together.  Jewelry is the best accent to fashion.  Therefore, music and jewelry blend well together.

I have a thought to share -

Lauren's Music Store & Just For You

Shop Lauren's Music Store.

Fill out the Just For You survey...with a catch.  On October 31st, I will, at random, select one customer via email to win a surprise Chloe + Isabel gift.  The gift will be a mystery to me too as the surprise will not be chosen until October 31st.

As always, play it!

Just For You

Time has slowed down on Set List, but I do have my reasons.

As of August, all of my time has been devoted to my business with the online fashion jewelry brand, Chloe + Isabel.  I work overtime hours every day to promoting my boutique and networking online.  I do have a blog specific to my boutique.  I utilize social media to the greatest extent.  I am sourcing potential partnerships with fashion subscription services and fellow bloggers.  My latest endeavor is a survey for potential customers.

Just For You is a survey designed to know more about the potential customer so that I can cater to their desire.  If readers or passersby are curious, head on over to Just For You.

Reminisce

May is a lucky month for Set List - the month of launch in 2010 and the most active when I return from an extended break.

I am always filled with excitement and post ideas in May.  Why May is the question, though.

I could reminisce about my passion for music and intrigue in the concept of blogging from so many years ago.  I could reminisce about how Set List came to be and my influences.  I could reminisce about the evolution of Set List from 2010 to present.  I could.

Of course if I could, I would be repeating myself from some point in the past I imagine.

In this post, I will reminisce about my custom music store through Amazon.  However, instead of an entire rewrite, I will reminisce by leaving a link to the post that in detail discussed my custom music store through Amazon.

Lonely In Your Nightmare

"Lonely In Your Nightmare" is a favorite song - by Duran Duran and in general - for highly personal reasons.

I am Bipolar.  I have a psychiatric seizure disorder.  I have Panic Disorder.  I have agoraphobic tendencies.  I currently take seven medications for my "invisible disabilities."

My mental reality will always be a nightmare.

I will never know my inheritance because no one in my family exhibits signs of mental illness.  My family, then, cannot relate.

My Panic Disorder and agoraphobic tendencies (fear of being outside) have left me with a limited social network - those I meet online through common interests.  I will never meet these few in person, so the extent of sympathy is likewise limited.

My mental reality will always leave me lonely.

So why is "Lonely In Your Nightmare" a favorite song?  The lyrics give me comfort.  If I feel alone in mind, I am never alone in music.
